Super Troopers 2 is wanted by movie goers, but are they willing to pay for it to be made?
Super Troopers is a 2001 comedy that was directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, written by and starring "Broken Lizard" comedy group - Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Hefferman, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. The movie is about Vermont State Troopers who play more pranks than they do actual cop work.
Fans of the first Super Troopers movie have been anxiously awaiting Super Troopers 2, and now they may finally get it. Super Troopers secured distribution from 20th Century Fox and Broken Lizard has begun fundraising for the film on Indiegogo.
Hefferman commented, "The first 'Super Troopers' was a very grassroots movie. It was something that people found and told their friends about. This approach seems to be a very cool way to get them involved in that same way and get a movie made in that same grassroots feel."
The group is keeping the plot secret for now but say, "We are going to pick up the story where we left off and we will be cops," Heffernan said.
The goal of the Indiegogo fundraiser was to raise $2,000,000, and it surpassed that number in just two days. Fans still have 29 days left to donate. Since we started writing this piece, the amount has gone up an additional $20,000 in just a few minutes.
If you want to donate to the Super Troopers 2 fundraiser, go to Indiegogo. Let's hope for another laugh-out-loud, silly, stoned, and crazy Super Trooper movie.
