Ariana Grande, the superstar that has been compared to Mariah Carey for her high-pitched whistle-registering capabilities, made her very first talk show appearance on Friday.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ariana said that she was feeling "vulnerable," having only performed as a musical guest in the past.
The former Nickelodeon star is known for her impressive impression abilities. She posted a YouTube video in 2010 in which she does a spot-on whiny take of Britney Spears' "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman," a memory-triggering cover of "Part Of Your World" from The Little Mermaid, and even mimics a crying baby.
So, Jimmy obviously had to "put her on the spot," as she called it, and asked her to do one of her famous impressions on the show.
The two did a duet of "Tale as Old as Time" from Beauty and the Beast, Celine Dion style.
Not only did she absolutely nail it, but she even mimicked the Canadian singer's distinct accent and performance tendencies, such as pounding her chest as she sings. She kept a totally straight face the entire time, much to Jimmy's wild amusement.
